Your Minecraft server sucks
I guess a more accurate title for that would have been “your Minecraft server admin sucks,” but whatever
Here’s the thing, if you:
- Run a bleeding-edge Minecraft server that’s liable to crash or corruption just so you can have players
- Beg for help for a plugin on IRC instead of looking at the source code and offering a patch yourself
- Refuse to op anyone or install a permissions mod
- Shove your server’s IP down everyone’s throat
- Put popularity in front of quality
you are a shit admin.
You don’t host a Minecraft server so you can lord power over everyone else. You host it because you’re confident you can give people a positive gameplay experience.
Yes, technically you can throw a server up anywhere you like with the vanilla software or a minimal number of plugins for people who don’t like to read or think too much (Essentials users, I’m looking at you). In the same way, technically you could dig yourself a 3x1 hole in the ground, cover yourself up with a block of dirt, and “survive” in Minecraft. Yes, it can be done, but only at the expense of missing the entire point.
